SNOWFLAKE: WHY ESG IS A DATA PROBLEM - AND HOW TO SOLVE IT
Date & Time
Thursday, March 9, 2023, 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM
Kinnari Ladha Alison Tierney
Description

Organisations across the globe are recognising the need to demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility. As such, a relatively new acronym has entered the lexicon of industry and NGOs alike: Environment, Social, and Governance, or ‘ESG’. In EMEA, there is a particular focus on Environment.  At COP27 held in November, 150 countries signed up to a pact to reduce methane emissions by 30% by the end of this decade - a goal that will require significant action from private sector firms.

Yet only 9% of global companies surveyed by Boston Consulting Group in late 2021 said that they are able to measure their emissions comprehensively, listing access to data and lack of time and budget as key blockers to measurement success. Without accurate measurement with which to assess operations, companies will struggle to make the necessary progress on Sustainability, or any other ESG related initiatives.

Join this session with Ali Tierney, SVP at Snowflake and Kinnari Ladha, CDO at IAG Loyalty to learn why ESG  is really a data problem, and how organisations can devise the right data strategies to solve it.
